State Rep. Abdullah Hammoud (D-Dearborn), and state Sens. Sylvia Santana (D-Detroit) and Stephanie Chang (D-Detroit) will hold a press conference to discuss AK Steel’s use of non-union, out-of-state workers for building improvements in advance of a community conversation event the company will be hosting that evening.
The Legislative Democrats will also address air quality concerns and public health impacts stemming from AK Steel’s plant which straddles Dearborn and Detroit. The event will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 10, beginning at 6 p.m. in front of Salina Elementary School, 2700 Ferney St. in Dearborn. Speakers will include Rep. Hammoud, Sens. Santana and Chang, as well as representatives of the UAW and IBEW.
